Webinar is short for Web-based seminar. Webinars are just like seminars held in a conference room. However, participants view the presentation through their Web-browser and listen from their computer or through the telephone. A Webinar is interactive, you have the ability to ask questions, receive and discuss information.
A Webinar is a perfect learning tool. In the past week I have attended 3 Webinars: Marketing Webinar - Profiting From Niche Marketing - Using Public Domain Material to Make Products. I walked away with tools I can use today in my online business. I follow several people that have a Webinar series. I get emails whenever they are conducting a Webinar. I also find Webinars that pertain to my niches through Twitter.
Tips for attending a Webinar
o Sign up for the Webinar as soon you get the sign up information. This will secure your spot.
o Once you have signed up you will get an email with all of the attendance data.
o Create a folder on your desk top to put information about the Webinar in.
o Save that email in that folder so you have easy access to the Webinar information.
o Mark you calender with the Webinar Date and Time....make sure you have the time in your time zone.
o Webinars can move fast. Use a screen capture tool like Jing for PCs (http://www.jingproject.com) - Skitch (http://skitch.com) to capture images of the screen. This saves you from having to make notes. Move those images to the folder you created on your desktop for future reference.
o Be sure to complete any survey at the end of the Webinar. This will help you get quality Webinars in the future.
Webinar Manners
o Be on time if at all possible. Sometimes there are discussions at the beginning that are full of tips.
o If you come in late, join the group with out disturbing them.
o If you are listening to the Webinar on the phone, hit the mute button if you have any background noise.
o Stay on the subject with your questions. The moderator will let you know when it is OK to move to a different subject.
o Send your questions through your browser if possible. You will be given a space to do this. The moderator can keep questions organized and use them at the appropriate time.
